This policy explains how we dispatch and deliver material, how long it takes, what it costs, and what we each need to do on the day. It applies to every order we accept, and it forms part of our terms & conditions.

2Who is delivering
Material is sold and supplied by Metal Shine Industries Private Limited, trading as Metal Store. Delivery may be made by us, by a transporter, or direct from wherever the material is held.
Whoever arrives at your gate, your order is with us. If anything is wrong with a delivery you deal with us and we sort it out — you are never asked to take it up with a carrier or a supplier you have no contract with.

3How long delivery takes
Most orders are delivered within 3 working days. That is the whole of it — from the day we confirm your order and any advance agreed has reached us, to the material reaching your address. It is not a dispatch time with a journey still to come after it.
The clock starts on confirmation, not on the day you enquire and not on the day a quotation is issued. Working days exclude Sundays and public holidays.
It depends on the product and the size. A standard sheet or section held in the yard moves quickly. An unusual grade, a width or length outside the ordinary run, a large quantity, or anything that has to be cut, profiled or coated first will take longer — sometimes considerably. That is the nature of steel, not an exception we are carving out.
You are never left to guess which one you have. Where an order needs longer, we say so before you accept the quotation, not after, and the quotation carries its own delivery date. That date is the one that applies to your order, and it is the date to plan around — this page is the general case.
4Where we deliver
We deliver to Chennai and across Tamil Nadu. Beyond that we will quote for delivery on request, and we deliver anywhere a lorry can lawfully and safely reach.
We deliver to sites, yards, factories and godowns. We need a delivery address a vehicle of the right size can actually reach: a full trailer needs road width, turning room and clearance. If you are not sure the address will take one, tell us before dispatch and we will send a smaller vehicle or split the load.
You are welcome to collect instead. Tell us when you want to come and we will confirm where the material is and have it ready and loaded for you.
5What delivery costs
Freight is quoted per order, because it depends on weight, length, distance and the type of vehicle a load needs. The quotation you accept states whether the price includes delivery.
- Where a quotation says delivered, the price includes freight to the address on it.
- Where it says ex-yard, the price is for the material loaded onto your vehicle and freight is yours to arrange.
- A change of address after dispatch, or a second attempt after a failed delivery, is charged at cost.
- Waiting time beyond a reasonable period at your site, caused by nobody being there or no means of unloading, is charged at the transporter's rate.
GST applies to freight where it is charged, at the rate in force, and is shown separately on the invoice.
6Unloading is yours
Unless your quotation says otherwise, unloading is your responsibility and at your cost. Delivery vehicles do not carry cranes or lifting equipment, and drivers are not insured to operate yours.
Please have ready at the delivery address:
- somebody authorised to receive the load and sign for it;
- a crane, hydra, forklift or enough labour for the weights and lengths you have ordered;
- space to set the material down safely, clear of the vehicle.
If the vehicle arrives and cannot be unloaded, it will wait for a reasonable period and then leave with the load. Redelivery and waiting time are charged at cost under section 5. Where we have agreed in writing to unload, that will be stated on your quotation and priced into it.
7When we will come
We tell you the dispatch date and give you the vehicle and driver details when the load leaves. Delivery is during ordinary working hours. Where a site has restricted hours, a gate pass, or a security or entry procedure, tell us before dispatch so the driver arrives with what is needed.
A delivery date is the date we expect to arrive, given in good faith. Traffic, weather, vehicle breakdown, a mill running late or a restriction on the route can move it. We will tell you as soon as we know.
8Checking the load
Check the material before the lorry leaves — count the bundles, check the sizes and grades against the delivery note, and look at the condition.
Anything visibly wrong must be written on the lorry receipt before the driver leaves, and reported to us within 48 hours. What happens then, and how a shortage or damage is put right, is set out in section 6 of our cancellation & refunds policy.
Signing the delivery note without a note on it records that the load arrived complete and in good condition, so it is worth the few minutes.
9Weight
Loads are settled on actual weighbridge weight. Where a weighbridge slip accompanies a load, that is the figure invoiced. Ordinary mill and rolling tolerances apply to thickness, width, length and coating mass, as section 7 of our cancellation and refunds policy explains.
10Part deliveries
Where an order covers several items, or a quantity larger than one vehicle, we may deliver it in parts. We will tell you when we intend to. Each part is invoiced as it is delivered unless your order says otherwise, and a delay to one part does not hold up the rest.
11When the material becomes yours
Risk in the material passes to you on delivery at your address, or on loading if you collect or arrange your own transport. From that point it is yours to store and keep safe — steel left in the open rusts, and that is not a defect.
Ownership passes when we have been paid in full for that material. Until then it remains ours, even after delivery.
12Things outside our control
We are not liable for delay or failure to deliver caused by something beyond our reasonable control — including a mill or supplier failing, transport strikes, road closures, flooding, storms, accident, fire, civil unrest, or any act or restriction of government. Where such an event delays an order we will tell you, and where it prevents it altogether either of us may cancel that part and any money paid against it is refunded in full under our cancellation and refunds policy.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version on this page on the date your order is confirmed is the one that applies to that order, and the date at the top says when it last changed.
